FAQ

What most parents want to know

What would my child learn?
  • Sketching, drawing, painting, sculpting and much more.
  • A variety of art styles such as expressionism, abstract art, pop art and contemporary art.
  • A wide range of mediums — pencils, charcoal, watercolour, oil pastel, soft pastel, acrylic, oil paint and clay — provided for children to explore and develop their one-of-a-kind art style.
  • Instructors observe, analyse and nurture children's behaviour and character in drawing, and work with parents to build a better personality.

Not sure which class my child should start in?

Wondrous Art offers courses with a syllabus suited to children at different stages:

  • Art Discovery — suggested for children aged 3 to 6
  • Foundation — suggested for children aged 7 and above

Do drop us an enquiry for other classes — our instructors are happy to help your child learn effectively.

What is important when children learn to draw and paint?
  • Drawing is different from other academic subjects — it needs to be taught with a systematic approach. Learning with a consistent flow is proven to be more effective.
  • Wondrous Art Studio designed a programme with a 6-level syllabus.
  • Each child has their own pace of growth and expression in each age group; we shouldn't force it. Artistic development should happen in a fun and organic way.
  • Manage expectations — every child is uniquely different.
  • Drawing is a joyous and rewarding experience. Parents should focus on the growth of their child's abilities rather than end results. Giving time and being genuinely interested in their process helps children embrace art better.
"Why another art programme, when my kids already have one in school?"

It's a fair question — but there are good reasons to consider an extra art class, especially if your child loves drawing but isn't able to shine at school:

  1. Number of students vs attention given. One instructor teaches 25–30 students in each school art class, so your child may not get enough attention.
  2. Limited time. With perhaps one 40-minute art class a week, can children really master more skills and knowledge?
  3. Art is less prioritised in the school timetable.

After-school art programmes provide classes in smaller groups, so instructors can monitor each student's progress effectively, and a detailed, professional syllabus offers a deeper understanding of art.

I'm uncertain if my child is suitable for this course.

We recognise that each child responds differently to various teaching styles. That's why your child can attend our trial class to experience our teaching approach before you make a decision.
